Cheers xWhat are some good walk-in (no appointment necessary) hairdressers in CHESTER?
There is a place down an alley just off the cathedral heading towards millets. I have been in there plenty of times and not needed an appointment but you might be waiting for a while though. It is just down the side of the back entrance of superdrug. hope this helps, not very good with street names lol

  • How much do hairdressers make?

Im thinking about becoming a hairdresser but I want to know what they really make. Some people say they make very little, yet my mom said that her hairdresser makes 100,000 a year or more. I plan to work at a fancy, upscale salon after I apprentice with another hairdresser for a while. How much salary could I possibly make? How much do hairdressers make?
Well, it also depends on where you are going to work at, the state and who you are going to work on, me personally I am moving to LA and being a mussuse and and hair dresser and nail artist. and owning my own place.

Could the hairdressers dye my light brown hair a light blonde?

I have light brown hair, I would like it dyed a golden light blonde? Could the hairdressers do this in one step? Which would be the best option... highlights? Full head colour then highlights? ThanksCould the hairdressers dye my light brown hair a light blonde?
the simple answer to your question is NO, they can't ';dye'; your hair several shades lighter in one step, that is impossible. dyes or single process colours only have the strength to lift 2 levels each time and will in no way be able tolift brown hair to blonde.

you would need to have your hair bleached first and then toned to the golden shade you desire. this is a 2 step process but is easy enough to be done in one sitting.

as for the lady above me who believes a hi-lift tint is less damaging than bleach - not true. hi-lift tints use a really high level of peroxide to get the hair light enough but on MOST people with a lot of red undertones it will get you to the orange/ginger stage whereas bleach will get you to the yellow/pale yellow (blonde) stage.

as for highlights - highlights CANNOT get a full head of hair to blonde. you can get the effect with a full head of fine blonde highlights (if done correctly and not by a cowboy place like the girl above experienced) but generally highlights are not toned so you would not get the golden shade, they would just be yellowy.Could the hairdressers dye my light brown hair a light blonde?
be really really clear about what you want and how theyre going to do it....i went to a salon and said i wanted to be *totally blonde all over*, no red showing and deffinatly no stripey effect....they said a full head of highlights would do the trick, be totally blonde all over...how wrong they were! My hair is NOT blonde, its still red with a few blonde stripes which looks really ******** **** and i cant afford to get it fixed...so when you go into the salons make them be absolutly clear about the result, even take a picture and say i want the coverage exactly like this. good luck!
Yes, this could be achieved in one step. If you just want all over golden blonde hair, than the hair dresser could use a permanent blonde hair color that is a few shades lighter than what your hair is now. If you also want highlights, she could put the highlights in %26amp; put the golden blonde color on the rest of your hair (going around the foiled highlights) - it can be done at the same time.
Sure they could. It would probably be really cute. As far as one color or highlights that's up to you. Some people think a full head of highlights looks more natural because your natural hair color is mixed in. Other people think that highlights look bad because they can give a stripey sort of effect. Highlights will be quite a bit more expensive than an all over color but they will need to be done less often. However, just having your roots done on an all-over color is cheaper than getting the color the first time but highlights cost the same every time. I think you should look at some photos online and also look at your budget and how often you want to go to the hairdressers.

This is probably a full head of highlights:

    http://www.talkingmakeup.com/pics/news/a鈥?/a>

It would probably cost around $150 every three months. So, around $600/year.

This is a full head color:

    http://www.maxwigs.com/image/HD-17HUMANH鈥?/a>

It would probably cost around $80 the first time you have it done and then around $60 every 6 weeks or so to get the roots done. So, around $520/year.
No, obviously not!! To dye means to make darker, and that's not at all what you want!!

What you wanted to say (but didn't) was that you wanted your hair lightened to a light golden blonde (whatever that means). That is a different procedure. You do not do this yourself, since you don't even know the right words to use!

You have a consultation first, as always, with a qualified professional hair colourist. Take in pics of the EXACT shade you want.. not something close to, almost, not as light... but exact. They will do a proper analysis of your hair and see if they can get that shade for you. They will be able to see if that is the right tone for you. They will tell you how they would get that shade, what it will cost, any after-care you need, about retouches. Ask how to get rid of it if you change your mind. When you have all the facts, then you can decide what to do. Remember: it's not cheap to be blonde!!
Yes if you want your hair one colour you could ask for a Hi-Lift tint. My hair is natural brown and I use Majiblond 900s plus Majirel 10.1 with 40 volume Oreor and it brings my hair up a really light blonde. You could also bleach your hair but its a lot harsher on your hair and can damage the condition of your hair
multi colors are more exspensive, but its up to you most hi lites depending where u go or who u see , where i work its 70 and up and color in between is extra 2o muti colors and how many tube they use and your hair type all factor in.

you have to call around and get some prices and ask for a free consultation.
If you have never dyed your hair before yes i would be able to do this in one step, probably just my brightest blonde dye would step you up to that colour because hair takes better when it has not been dyed before. xx

    Please answer mine:

Ask to see the different shades of blondes they have and have whatever one you think would suit you best if you want a very light blonde its best to get it bleached.
Definately, especially if your hair isn't dyed brown. If you get highlights it wont make your hair blonde. You should get a full head color then highlights in a few months.
heavy highlights... bleach will be the only way to get it blonde and if you want it golden blonde it still has to be bleached.
I think you should get highlights because it would make your hair color stand out.
yes they can but i think yu should do highlights first dont do foil :|

    do cap.
    yeah

What is a good percentage to tip hairdressers?

10%, 15%, 20% of the full price? Just wondering? Thanks :)What is a good percentage to tip hairdressers?
Fair service 10% good service 20% of the full price of service. If I have a different shampooer I tip them 1-2 dollars also. What is a good percentage to tip hairdressers?
I do 20% even if I'm getting it dyed or highlighted which is like 30 bucks!!! but if they do a really good job which they always do then its worth it
I also go with 20% and then also verbally thank them. I think it helps to let them know exactly what you liked about the hairstyle so that they can do that for you again and again.
It all depends on the type of salon and how good of a job the stylist did. This may sound ridiculous but I tip 50% for my haircuts only because I know it's SO hard to find someone who does what I want...not what they want! It helps that I went to high school with my stylist back in the day...it gives her more of a feeling for my personality.
20% of the full price but if you didn't like the service and the product I would tip less.
My wife tips her hairdresser 20% as she always does a great job. I usually tip $3 for mine but my haircut only costs $8!
    I usually do 15%

What do I ask for at the hairdressers?

I go to supercuts and you don't have to book for an appointment. You can just go in. However, I always say *can I book an appointment?* when I first go in as I don't know what else to say.

What can I say instead to avoid sounding like an idiot? What do I ask for at the hairdressers?
Just say ';Hey is there someone who can cut my hair right away?'; Or ';I was wondering if anyone is available right now?'; Lol dont worry, you dont sound like an idiot! :)What do I ask for at the hairdressers?
    you take walk ins right?
just say hi are you busy? could i be taken?
hey anyone free to cut my hair noe pls?

Question about hair strpping prices to anyone who works in a hairdressers or is a moble hairdresser?

im getting my hair stripped and re coloured in the new year at regis hairdressers now im not sure f i've booked it with an expensive salon because they said to me if i have to have my hair stripped twice its going to cost me 拢137 can i get this done cheaper else were :-S like maybe zig zags?Question about hair strpping prices to anyone who works in a hairdressers or is a moble hairdresser?
    拢137 that crazy!

i would find somewhere else, i have my own salon and done even charge that!

hairdressers do charge more for color correction, but even so,..... how many shades are you trying to lift your hair by? at the prices they want to charge it would be cheaper to have a full head of chunky highlights and still have change!Question about hair strpping prices to anyone who works in a hairdressers or is a moble hairdresser?
In the salon I work at, we charge around $75-130. If this is considered a corrective color, at my salon we charge $60-70 per hour. Depending on how fast your hair lifts (while getting stripped) %26amp; what kind of color your salon uses, it would probably take around 2-4 hours.

Also, you should not have your hair stripped twice in a row in one day. You hair will be fried %26amp; could very likely break off. They should only strip it once, than when that process is done, apply the color. But if they are not putting bleach all over, %26amp; are using a soap cap instead, than that can be done twice.
Well you can buy the E'fausser on ebay for about five pounds or dollars depending where you are. And then can recoulour it immediatly.using almost ANY type of dye. it will save you ATLEAST A hundred pounds. It's what I did.
you can do this process yourself very easily using vanish color corrector.

For Hairdressers - Would you please help me with a question about hair color products?

I have prematurely graying hair and have been having it color in a salon for several years. I have been having to get it colored every 3 weeks because my gray shows through in fact it starts to show through in about 10 days. Could this be because the hair color product my stylist is using isn't good or could it be my hair grows that fast? She uses a light brown/dark blonde color. I used to have very dark brown hair so we've lightened it up considerably from my natural shade so that the roots don't show so much. It's getting very expensive to have my hair colored every 3 weeks so my question is, is there a good hair color product that I can apply myself? For Hairdressers - Would you please help me with a question about hair color products?
ask your stylist to get ';grey b gone'; it is a new developer that can be used with any color products! only your stylist will be able to get it ! i use it in the salon i work at and it is an amazing products and you should only need to color your hair once every 4 to 6 weeks good luck! For Hairdressers - Would you please help me with a question about hair color products?
    i'm not a hairdresser, but if it's just your roots showing through they make hair mascaras for a temporary touch up (will wash out in the shower) or they now make kits that are designed specifically for roots ( i don't know the exact brand but it's one of the big ones and it says root touch up in the name). But if grey is showing through in the lenght of your hair, the dye could be fading. you might want to try getting a color protective shampoo and conditioner. or try a color depositing shampoo and conditioner. artec makes good ones, they are pricey, but you only use them a couple of times a week to ';touch up';
Ask your stylist if they are using a permanent color or a temporary color. That will make a world of difference. A temp. will fade alot faster. Also a red color always fades faster!
Rachel sounds right on. I use Nioxin Protective Cleanser and Protective Scalp Therapy on my own hair on the advice of my hair colorist. When she does my hair it lasts at least 6 weeks.

Since last March 17 I've let my color alone just to see what I've got. Most of the old colored hair has been cut off, but I still have some left over reddish-blonde that looks like highlights. My own color is dark with some gray, esp. in front. I have been known to use a regular eye mascara on the ';gray'; around my face when it was growing back in. I do think that salon coloring is better for your hair. For home shampooing and conditioner, the Nioxin products make your hair look very healthy.

  • Can hairdressers lighten dark blonde hair to make it blonde but so it still looks natural?

    not fake %26amp; obvious :P

are there also gentler ways so it wont make hair thinner %26amp; less volumized? Can hairdressers lighten dark blonde hair to make it blonde but so it still looks natural?
Yeah Beth's right. Also, what my sister used to do is bleach it (from home though) then put a semi - permanent honey blonde dye the next day.

xxCan hairdressers lighten dark blonde hair to make it blonde but so it still looks natural?
yeah course, when you go to a hairdressers they tend to show you the colour samples..

if your going for a NON bleach blonde barbie girly look then ask for a natural golden blonde..

as for the thinning of hair, ask for some advise on products, they usually have tons of lotions and potions that are specific for everyones hair type..

    hope i helped :)xx

Approximately how much will it cost to get my hair stripped at the hairdressers?

A couple of months ago i dyed my hair black and now i want to go lighter....an auburn colour and i tried dying it but my hair didn't change colour and i was told that i had to get it stripped. And i know that it will be expensive...does anyone know approximately how much it will cost???Approximately how much will it cost to get my hair stripped at the hairdressers?
i have been a hair dresser for 15 years and i am gonna tell you that stripping your hair is a very expensive job and a very time consuming job black is the wost color to get out it is going to depend on how long your hair is and what color you are wishing to acheive. but yes it will cost you. i allways tell my clients never touch their own hair with a chemical because i will just have to fix it and it cost moe money to fix than to do .Approximately how much will it cost to get my hair stripped at the hairdressers?
It depends on the length of your hair but figure between $75 to $150. Best advice I can give you would be to leave it alone for a few months and wash it as often as possible as this will help eliminate some of the black color. Conditioning is very important so I'd invest in a reconstructive conditioner.
This will depend on the city where you live, also depend on the lenght and volume of your hair. I'm a hairdresser and I charge starting from $50.00 + and I live here in Canada.

Why do hairdressers always want to cut long hair?

they ALSWAYS do. I know this lady and she has the most gorgeous long hair and there always badgering her to dye it funny colors and cut it dramatically short. Same with my mother. My mom has really long hair and this one time she went in for a trim, but came out with about 6 inches off! when she only asked for one. Why do hairdressers always want to cut prett, long, hair? Why do hairdressers always want to cut long hair?
I don't know and it irritates me to be perfectly frank about it. My hair is very thick and goes down to my rear end. I am always getting compliments on it. whenever I go for a trim, the person wants to cut 8'; off. I have had to stop a few scissor happy stylist from time to time. I would not normally mind but my hair grows extremely slowly. It has taken me 30 years to get it this long and I don't want it chopped off in 15 minutes. No, I don't think my round middle aged face would look good with one of those over 30 super mom helmet cuts..I would look like an over 30 super mom with a helmet. If I want to go around looking like a hippie then that is my business and not some clip happy hairdresser's.Why do hairdressers always want to cut long hair?
Sometimes people with long hair have the same style for years, and hairdressers just want to suggest a new cut or color to spice it up a bit, and not necessarily a dramatic style. The reason why they suggest to cut off so much at times is because the client most likely has very damaged ends. I've seen tons of women who come in thinking their hair looks gorgeous just because of their length, but in a stylist eyes, its more likely an x amount of inches of damaged hair. Healthy long hair looks nice, and usually its because that person has kept up with their routine trim, which maintains it nice and healthy. So if a hairdresser suggests more than what you're asking for, he/she is probably noticing that much damaged hair. But hey, the client wants what they want and should get what they ask for, so the saying ';the customer is always right';.
yeah I know what you mean... I have long hair and I'm only 20 so it's not like I'm ';too old'; to have butt length hair (even though I have no idea who decided that older women can't have long hair.. I've just heard people say it a lot). I take very good care of my hair, I rarely wash it so it doesn't get dry, and I cut out all of my split ends, so its not like they're trying to cut off the split end BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANY. but they STILL want to cut off 5 inches when I ask for a trim. so I know I didn't answer your question, but I just wanted to rant along with you. :)
lol omg this so TRUE cuz everytime ive went to a salon for a SMALL trim or jus some normal layers they went and cut off like from a half a inch hair that i asked 2 be cut to like 5 inches off lol they always are like u should get it shorter and im always bein rude n sayin NO lol but they still do it and im kind of known in my school 4 my long big hair and they always seem to want it short! and i hate! short hair lol idk y they do it i think its cuz they luv to cut alot loln or they just stupid!
Because they're going to get more money out of short hair. Think about it, long hair doesn't need a regular cut to keep its shape, or any special products to take care of it and stop it from looking awful, unlike short hair. Women with very long hair usually use all natural and homemade products, so the stylist isn't going to earn any commission, are they? Hairdressing is a business.
Because they are a artistist with hair and they want to transform the person. They want to practice thier artform.
There is a name for it, it is called scissor-itis.
I dont know but its annoying and rude! I like my hair long...I feel more feminine with long hair.
it depends, but usually when women have really long hair, no matter how healthy it is, it can make her look dated. Most women with long hair don't want it cut initially, but after they see it, they never want to grow it long again!
because they probably have damaged, split ends hair which needs cutting

Why do hairdressers look at themselves in the mirror while doing your hair?

It's as if they are actually holding a conversation with, well, themselves! What are some of your opinions on this? Why do hairdressers look at themselves in the mirror while doing your hair?
Personally I have a hard time being around a mirror and not looking in it. I think a lot of people are like that

It could also be that they're getting a look at your hair cut from the front through the mirror

Is it ok to go into hairdressers with a picture?

if i have a picture of a hairstyle i like, i would feel like a douche walking in with a picture.

do hairdressers mind at all if you take in a picture and show them what you would like?Is it ok to go into hairdressers with a picture?
Nope everyone does. I would think it would be easier for the hairdresser than just trying to exlplain because they would have a better idea of what you want. Good luck!Is it ok to go into hairdressers with a picture?
Yes it is! They often like it because it makes it easier for them to know what you want and then you don't have to worry about using proper terms. Also, if you're getting your hair dyed your hairdresser will be able to get the exact right shade. ;)
uh, yeah! its the best way to get them to know what you want. why would u look like a douche?!?!?! hairdressers appreciate it if you help them out, because they feel bad if you don't like what they did. trust me, my sister did my hair at her shop and bothered me for weeks apologizing because i wasn't a big fan of the haircut.
yes, you can. i find that hairdressers often do better with a picture to work off of, so it is encouraged.
Of course! they may not be able to do it perfectly but they can see what you want. I feel really lame bringing in pictures too, but they are totally fine with it don't worry!
yes it is my friend got hers cut like Selena Gomez. and i got layers off of a picture.
Take the picture with you....sure beats trying to describe what you want.
    That's perfectly fine
    it helps them really

you get better results normally too :)

    do it!

I want to find out details of ';Rent A Chair'; arrangements for hairdressers and/or beauticians?

I have been advised of a range of potential agreements including hourly rates, weekly rentals and profit shares. Can anyone tell me industry standard rates, what works best from both a salon owners point of view and individual hairdressers. Are there tax implications, links to contract formats etc online? Is it better to be a company structure or sole trader?I want to find out details of ';Rent A Chair'; arrangements for hairdressers and/or beauticians?
it really depends on what side you are coming from. i own a salon and my stylists are paid on a 50% commission. from an owners point of view chair rental would be easier but you also have less control of employees because they are considered independent contractors. there are a lot of tax requirements for commission paid employees. i would suggest getting an accountant at first. if they rent a chair you as an owner are not responsible for their taxes, only your own. i am a sole-proprietor and that works for me but there are advantages and disadvantages for both so your accountant can help you with that as well. hope this helps......if you have any other questions i can help you with you can email me at skullzsalon@yahoo.com

  • This is a question for professional hairdressers?

I have been coloring my hair red, I am thinking of changing it to a light golden brown, is this possible being that my hair is a light auburn color. This is a question for professional hairdressers?
yes its possible. This is a question for professional hairdressers?
13 years on the job tells me that you need some professional help. It he brown you want is lighter on the levels chart than the red you have you will have to strip the red. it will cause the light brown to be very warm and ruddy looking. Colr does not remove color so make no mistake, stripping will be involved. Good luck
Yes, this is possible. Try using a semi permanent color so if you are not completely satisfied it will wash out and you can use another color in just a few days.
it is possible but should be done professionally, i am a hairdresser going through the same thing.....I have red on my hair and wanting my natural light brown color back and mine isn't satisfactory even after stripping the red out and applying the brown.....Red is hard to keep in and hard to get out....go figure. PLease don't try to do this yourself.
yes, but please don't do it yourself unless you have had several color classes. and don't allow ANY stylist do it , either. make sure it is someone who KNOWS their color.
hey ..an easy way to do this is to add a little baking soda to your shampoo...about a dime size amount..once a week...plus deep condition to ensure you do not dry out your hair
    yup
But do have it done professionally. Reds are unpredictable when coloring your own hair.

okay like look at the picture and see how all the layers are and the length and then look at how much theyd have to take off[maybe measure it] and like write it all down. thats what i did. then while their cutting it if they are about to du somthn wrong dont be afriad to say ';hey i want this, not that'; and also as for the bangs, take your own comb so that you can show them exactly how your plannin on parting it. i hope this helps, and also if it turns out not quite rite tell them and theyll prolly try to fix it or at least like give you a discount
you're gonna regret getting your hair cut like this. retard.
I want short layers at top and straggly looking long chopped hair.
    their just choppy short layers..?

    then you tease it...?

god these questions make me laughh.

How to act at a hairdressers?

Just wondering what the usual way to act is while getting your hair cut.

They usually give me magazines but I hate magazines so don't know what to do with myself. I don't feel I can get a book out because then it would seem that I'm being rude and not wanting to speak to them. At the same time I feel a bit stupid just sitting there and watching myself in the mirror.

What does everyone else do without the distraction of one of those gossip/hair magazines? How to act at a hairdressers?
I used to work as a hairdresser, its not rude to get a book out! Just do it, its meant to be a relaxing time so just do what ever you want to. Some posh salons have TV's in them. If not just get your phone out and WAP away. Lots of clients just close their eyes and just chill out.

Just enjoy the moment. How to act at a hairdressers?
I'm a hairdresser and there is no need to feel like your being rude if you read a book...

I wouldn't recommend listening to an ipod as sometimes we need to ask you questions. But, we give you magazines so it makes no difference to us if you read a book or magazine.

Just read your book, listen to the hairdresser wen he/she asks you a question and be polite. Also, be truthful, if you don't like wot they are doing, tell them straight away!

We don't find it offencive, we find it very very helpful!

    Hope this helps.
Strike up a simple conversation. I hate talking to my hairdresser, but I do some small talk like school, things that have been going on in the area like recent theater plays, football and basketball games, how your grades are (say they're great) and favorite things you and her/him may have in common. Talk about movies and new restaurants, stuff like that.

My hairdresser has a television so that helps when I don't feel like talking to her. I just watch tv. (:

Also, I read the gossip/beauty/hair magazines. (I know you don't like them) But, I love them and they kill LOADS of time.
If I have a chatty hairdresser, I usually don't mind talking to her. Unless she's some weird goth type. Then I usually just read a fashion magazine and ignore her. If she won't stop talking, there's always the eye roll with a heavy sigh. That might give her a hint. ;)

But since you don't like magazines, try just listening to music on an iPod.
If you don't feel like small talk with the hair dresser then of course you can bring a book! If they minded if you read then they wouldn't offer magazines. I don't think it's rude at all to be honest and after all you're a paying customer so you should be able to do what you want (within reason)
Hair dressers usually test the water to see if you want to talk or not, and depending on how you answered they will know whether to start chatting or to let you read or stare at yourself, I don't think they mind either way. Be polite, tell them they are doing a good job. x x
They don't care 'cause they are paid to do your hair, whether you talk to them or not. If I'm in a good mood I'll chat to my stylist, if not I just read a magazine or text people or what ever.
I just talk to her... I have been going to her for a couple years so we kinda know each other. Reading a book is not rude, if you want to read then read.
(lmao) I'm told all the time i worry too much about what people will think, i see you have the same problem then!! JUST CHILL You are not the first person who doesn't know what to do...

How much do newly qualified hairdressers and estheticians earn in british columbia, Canada?

Depends where in BC you are working, and for what type of spa or salon you are working for. My friend works for Suki's in Vancouver (one of the more prestigious salons) and is a junior stylist and makes $19/hour plus tips. A haircut by her costs the customer $45 so you can see that most of the money is going to the salon itself. A haircut by their senior stylists can cost an average of $70.

  • Hair cut, why do some hairdressers use razor and some scissors?

I have thick hair and my new hairdresser uses a razor. Why? I feel regular scissors plus those scissors with a serrated edge give me a better cut and makes my hair less heavy and prone to collaspe. Why does he use a razor? What is the difference between an razor cut and a scissor cut?Hair cut, why do some hairdressers use razor and some scissors?
A scissor makes a perfect cut. A razor makes your hair layered.

What is your favourite part of getting shampooed at the hairdressers?

their long nails massaging my scalpWhat is your favourite part of getting shampooed at the hairdressers?
Ths scalp massageWhat is your favourite part of getting shampooed at the hairdressers?
nothing, my hair dresser is brutal and usually ends up ripping out at least 1 of my ear piercings
the scalp massage definitely! it's so relaxing :)
My hairdresser uses Aveda products, which I adore! And I lovee the feeling of being pampered...the warm water, gentle lathering...it's amazing =]
i agree with the 1st girl lol
I go to a Salon that uses only Aveda products. It's very, very zen. They have candles lit, and waterfalls, and classical music. When I get my hair shampooed, I almost fall asleep. I love all of it. The music, the sound of water, the smells, the SCALP MASSAGE! Ahhhh. It's wonderful.

How much does a colour cost at the hairdressers ?

i want a style cut , half black and half blonde? How much does a colour cost at the hairdressers ?
It is hard to put a # on it without knowing the area you live in, the time it will take to color your hair depending on the length, thickness, and the color you are now. I would call the salon you are wanting to go to and have a consultation (it should be free and only takes about 10 min.). At this time you will discuss the color you are wanting to go, the cut, etc.. and the price. I would bring in pictures if you have them available or go in early and look through books of hairstyles at the salon. This way you and your stylist are thinking the ';same color blonde'; for ex. I hope this helps you some - good luck!!!How much does a colour cost at the hairdressers ?
My mums cost like $155NZD but I don't know if thats cheap or expensive :S
from about $40-$60 I believe. Specialty things are likely to cost more, as well as longer hair.

    Good luck
It depends. Where, which stylist, length of your hair ect. Ballpark $100-220

What do hairdressers think when you bring in a picture for your haircut?

Don't worry what anyone else thinks about you, if you want a specific hairstyle then take a picture. I's worth a shot and at least you won't get a shock when they do something awful to you hair (although they probably won't). You're paying them, so they don't care what you ask them for really (although they'll advise you if they don't think the style will suit you or if it's not doable on you hair type)

:)What do hairdressers think when you bring in a picture for your haircut?
most hairdressers prefer you bring a visual reference because then they can see what you want done. Some people are really bad at explaining things, and even if YOU understand the style your explaining, the hairdresser might not. So a picture helps. What do hairdressers think when you bring in a picture for your haircut?
Most prefer you bring in a Picture, as It helps with what you want. If they dont really have a Visual of what the hairstyle, or haircut is, They have a better chance of doing what you didn't want.
my gf is a hairdresser and she gets that all the time. its why they have magazines in there. they would rather see what u want than have you try and explain it.
most hairdressers prefer this as it gives them a closer idea of what you want. although some hairstyles are not doable on certain hair types
Well, usually when my customers bring in a photo(I am a professional hairdresser) I ignore it
    They think it is a very good idea, it helps them a lot, {Daughter is hairdresser,}
when i brought a picture in for my hairstylist she said ';thank god this makes my life so much easier'; lol
usually,'; I am a hairdresser not a miracle worker';! lol
I dont think they think anything i took a picture in and im a guy.
That think Mmn, that's handy. Still going to ignore it.
i always do this way you get what you want and the hairdresser doesnt mess up
i dont think the care but they might think u love ur hair

It should be at least mininum wage which depends on your age however I did work experience in a salon a few years ago and the apprentices only got 拢3.20 an hour because their training was taken into consideration. If you are training to be a hairstylist too then I think they can pay you less but if not then search on the internet how much mininum wage is for your age-it shouldn't be any lower than 拢5 though

  • Will the hairdressers fix your hair for free if you hate it?

I hate the highlights they did for me and it cost my mum 拢84 and i feel really bad because i hate it and the hair dye is permanent! :(

If i go back and ask them to dye over it, will they charge me?Will the hairdressers fix your hair for free if you hate it?
    yeah i'd think so

either that or sue them! Will the hairdressers fix your hair for free if you hate it?
Go back and tell them they with a little bit of time, you realized that you are definitely not satified with what the hair dresser did to your hair.

Don't necessarily ask them to redo it just ask them to fix it (if that involves redying your head then do so).

I have gone back to an upscale salon before because I was miserable with what they did. Go for it, there is no harm in trying. Go in person too just so you can explain what you don't like.
I told you before .....go back to the salon or call and ask for the manager....Baby there are several ways to fix this not just dyeing over this. The manager can go in and take those large hunks of hair and thin them out with color, whether it be to lighten or darken them. Of coarse it is permanent .....they lightened it! I read one of the answers that told you to wash it, or it would be permanent in 3 days.....DUH ........it is permanent! If you are not satisfied then you are just not satisfied. This time make sure what they do is exactly what you want and go over what you want and expect with the stylist.
I didn't read the question fully before answering. Here is what you can do. Highlights can be toned. It is basically a filler that changes the highlight color to warmer blondes and even browns. It is cheaper and most hair dressers will do it for you free or charge a nominal fee. If you get a toner done at the time of serice they charge you then too! So they might just charge you the additional. And you will LOVE the color when it is done. Then you will still have definition and it will not be an all over thing. Highlights the color you want them! Good luck.
It depends on the hairstylist. ( How nice they are! ) Maybe if is a relative or close friend ( someone you have known for a long time ).It really depends. You will probably have to ask them , I know it may not be easy to ask them but really, to be honest, we don't all got o the same hair stylist so, we have really no way of knowing.
i know when i got red highlights the next day they faded and i hated the color so i went back and added this thing and they did it for free
I depends if u and ur hairdresser are really close. And did they screw it up? Because if it was my hairdresser she would re do it for half the price.
I guess it depends on your relationship with your hairdresser. I mean, if you're not happy, they should do it for free.
not really it if u have a really nice hair dresser then yea but other then that no
    No
If the reason is because you hated it..Probley not....Youd'd have to have a better reason..Like if they screwed up on it.

If that is what his intention is he will have to warn you before the meeting, because he won't want you to foul up his plan. So when he warns you, just tell him that you don't feel comfortable doing it.
he has obviously not told them yet he has not come out okay just say your not his girlfriend but a close friend with no romantic intentions and say right where shall we eat first .

Can hairdressers thin hair out so the hair is half the thickness??

I have very thick hair and i would like to have it thinned out so it's about half the thickness. Is this actually possible, or can it only be thinned out a certain amount? Can hairdressers thin hair out so the hair is half the thickness??
    Yes-

http://www.flickr.com/photos/10421694@N0鈥?/a>Can hairdressers thin hair out so the hair is half the thickness??
my mom is a hairdresser and u can get thinned slowly but u cant just get half way thinned all at once. plus all those chemicals all at once will really damage your hair.
they can try but it might take a while for it to be half. like more than one try at thinning. i'd love it if they could though. my hair is too thick.
Yes they basically just layer it underneath. It feels alot better trust me lol. But they will shear it! You will think they are cutting all your hair off
of course! i get my done i forget what she called the scissor thing but just asked for it thinned out! it feels so much more lighter i get it done everytime i go there

    hope this helps!

    good luck
You can thin it out as much as you want. The hairdresser should tell you when they think it's good enough. But yeah, however thin you want it.
yep. suer can! i have the same hair but then i got mine thinned out and now its half as thin. go to ficacellos they will do it for you. thats where i go.

    trust me they can

    :]
i don't know about half but yes, if you ask to have it thinned out they will do it
Yes they actually thin your hair out. It's a great little trick for those of us with unruly thick hair (yes, I have thick hair as well) They take a utensil that looks like a pair of scissors and they actually cut into your hair, just taking out parts of strands. It won't harm your hair at all, and if you want it to get thicker again, just let it grow out. However, on a side note, you are somewhat lucky to have thick hair, because when you get much older everyone with thin hair will be losing their hair, while you may only lose a little of the thickness :-D It seems a curse now, but you'll be thanking your genes later.
I had mine thinned out about 4 years ago. it worked. I have really thick, boufant hair. and it helped tremendously. She thinned it all over, and the poof was gone.

They use special scissors that look like they have teeth, and cut the hair close to the scalp. Half the hair is cut, and half is left.

How likely is it that I will catch norovirus from going to the hairdressers?

I'm in the UK and it's spreading like wildfire. The past week or so I've avoided going out of the house and seeing anyone. Hahah I sound so lame, but I'm a severe emetaphobic (phobia of being sick / other people being sick / vomit in general)

i have a phobia of being sick too i am still at school but i stay on the field until crowds have gone etc anyway i get my dad to drop me off and pick me up from school to avoid contact with anyone else. It is unlikely you will catch it from going to the hairdressers. there wont be many people there and you'll be in and out within minutes. How likely is it that I will catch norovirus from going to the hairdressers?
Even if you stay home for the rest of you life you could still catch it.Yes some people are selfish but they may have their own reasons for going into work b4 they should.

You have the same chance of getting this virus as THE QUEEN.

I have a phobia of sick too,but just try to remove myself from the situation (but having children %26amp; grand-children its hard)

    Best of luck
norovirus is spread from fecal matter on the hands. wash your hands really well and you should be fine.

Do hairdressers get paid at least minimum wage? If so, why do we have to tip?

Ok, so I understand that waiters and waitresses get a base pay that is below minimum wage and we tip to supplement that. What about hair dressers? Do they get paid below the minimum wage as well?Do hairdressers get paid at least minimum wage? If so, why do we have to tip?
I'm a hairdresser. I don't get a base pay or minimum wage. I only get paid if someone sits in my chair. I also only get a commission of what the client pays for my service. Some days minimum wage would be more than you would make all day, especially when you are starting out or are new to a town. Tips are very much appreciated to help cover our costs for training and our tools. But you do not have to tip.

When I know a client appreciates me and my service, they become a client I want in my chair again, a client I might try to go above and beyond for even when I'm short on time or patience.

In other situations there are people who get 100% of what you pay but they have to provide everything they use to perform a service for you. That includes a rent payment to work in that salon, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shears, combs, brushes, blow dryer, irons, hair spray, any hair products put in your hair, hair color, bowls, bottles, applicators, capes, etc... There are also some who DO make minimum wage until they meet a certain dollar amount for a company, then it might change to a commission.Do hairdressers get paid at least minimum wage? If so, why do we have to tip?
It's a service in which the workers have to put up with a lot of crap, just to eke out a living...just like waiters and waitresses, massage therapists, nail techs... these are job fields in which many patrons feel it is their right, or even duty at times, to have someone cater to their every whim.

For instance, if the 80 year old woman with the baby fine white hair comes in and wants to look like Beyonce Knowles and insists that her stylist can make her look like that, it's the stylist's job to divert her to something more flattering. The patron walks out looking and feeling lovely, and the stylist deserves a huge tip for not allowing the woman to give herself a ridiculous makeover.

Also, personal services rarely carry any kind of insurance benefits including sick leave, so consider tipping to supplement their health care costs...and because they deal with the public, they tend to be exposed to more of the bugs going around.
I think they mostly get commission, but that's besides the point. When someone performs a personal service like that, the proper etiquette is to tip. Hairdressers don't get into the biz to make minimum wage, and if you go to one that does, I can guarantee a bad hairdo is coming your way. Usually it's 10/15 % of the service, however, if it's the OWNER of the salon, they shouldn't be tipped bc they are getting all the profit, unlike the stylists that are hired to work there. if you don't want to tip, I think they still make flowbees!
I think hairdressers do get paid more than minimum wage. However, most of the costs go toward managing the business: products, location, utilities, etc. Also, it is both a manual labor and human services job. Just imagine working on your feet all day, using the same repeat movements over and over again which cramp up your muscles, and focusing on the needs of the customer making sure they are having a pleasant conversation and time in your locale. Due to the amount of time, mental and physical energy it takes is the reason why you should tip the hairdresser. However, i also believe if your hairdresser does a bad job, is rude, ignores you or works in a super expensive shop you don't have to tip.
Stylists can make little money or lots of money. Having been one for awhile, I know what it's like to make very little (when just starting out), and a decent amount (after a few years). Still you don't tip because they don't make minimum wage- you tip because they provide a service, and you appreciate it.

Stylists work off hours (nights and weekends) to accomodate you, work on their feet all day (ouch), get carpel tunnel (from that mean blow-out you wanted), and deal with people who expect the impossible DAILY.

Would you be more upset if a waitress brought you an undercooked meal, or if you left your salon with under-processed hair (a pretty shade of flourescent orange)? I think you'd choose the second. They accomplish somehting you cannot do at home. TIP them.
Have you tried to live on minimum wage lately? Hairdressers get tipped because they are in the SERVICE industry - Most service industry employees, food service, bartending, hairdressing, etc., do not get paid minimum wage unless they work for a large chain. Most hairdressers rent their space from the owner of the salon where they work and have to pay a percentage of what they make.

If your hairdresser does a good job, tip accordingly. This person has your hair in their hands...
Mostly hairdressers only make what each customer pays for their hair cut. But they don't keep it all because they have to pitch in for bills to keep the shop up and running. So pretty much everything you pays goes into their kitty then has to go to all the bills around the salon then they get what is left. So if you want them to feel appreciated I say give them a tip, unless they totally mess up your hair.
The majority of hairdressers are paid on commission. They are not making any money unless that have a client. They could be at work for 4 hours and not make a dime if they do not have a client. They get a certain percentage of the cost of the service they do. Plus the tips. The tips are a huge part of the industry. Us hairdressers really greatly appreciate and rely on any tips we get. So if they do a great job, be generous!!
It's just customary. You don't HAVE to tip, it is a way of showing your appreciation for a job well done. It's the same as with other spa services. For example, a massage therapist usually gets a percentage (often 50-60%) of the fee for the massage. However it's customary to tip an additional 15% to them if they do a good job.
each shop is different some the hairdressers are paid NOTHING and have to rent the chair they use from the owner of the salon some they split pay they receive with the owner ( hair cut costs 25 dollars there might be a 50 /50 split or some other precentage 25 going to hairdresser 75 going to house )

and do NOT complain about tipping makes you sound cheap and nasty

    are you cheap and nasty?
Hairdressers , Are paid very well. Where are you people from the dark ages?? And I suppose you all think that Hairdressers are High School drop outs?? You tip a Hairdresser for their services, just like a waiter, or waitress. On how well they do their job, on how well you like what they have done. If you don't like what they have done you don't have to tip. They usually get 50 - 75% of the cost of their service. Sometimes more.
What a hair stylist makes depends on the salon. She could rent her chair. She could be fresh out of school and paid a commission, for ex. It really all depends. My stylist is available to do hair 7 days a week! That amazes me but she does this for her customers - she is building a good business.

I tip because it's the right thing to do. She does a very good job. I appreciate her and want her to know that I do.
My mother has been a cosmotologist for 32 years. Trust me they make no where near minimum wage. She even bought out the business she had been working for and now owns it. She makes not even twice as much now being the owner. It is very bad pay. Tip Tip TIP away.
Some do. You are tipping them for service well done, as most hairdressers are paid only on their commission, with take home/base pay being very little. It took them $$ and time to get trained and licensed, not tipping is simply rude and ignorant.
It's illegal for anyone to be paid less than minimum. That being said, it's EXTREMELY difficult for a person to live off of $8.00/hour, and the tips make up a big part of the salary.

Also, you should tip if you want to walk out of there looking half-decent.
A tip is not a requisite. Tips are ';gratituties'; that are given for a job well done. If you are not pleased with the cut, or if you simply cannot afford to tip, then don't. Althought, I wouldn't recommend going back to that stylist again after stiffing her/him.
Every salon is different, but they do not make very much at all. Where I live most salons have hairdressers renting a chair there. They don't get paid anything but a small commission and rely on their tips to pay the rent and pay their bills!
No, they do not, it depends if they are working for a company like Hair Cuts or other that paid them a check. But, if you go to private owned business they look and act like you should or you would receive a bad do.
Even if it is only minimum wage that alone isn't enough to survive on and tips help out a lot for a job well done.

They are doing a service that only talented people are able to do.
How can you get paid below minimum wage? I think its called minimum for a reason. You don't have to tip anyone, unless you want extra service, if you know what i mean, wink, wink
Hair dressers pay themselves, whatever they charge you that's what they get paid you tip because that's a nice thing to do for someone who works on your hair over an hour to make you look good.
You tip them if they did a good job, and you expect to come back, and you want good treatment. By the way, waiters do get minimum wage, that is the law. That's why they call it minimum wage.
A tip is something extra you give for a job you think is well done, it is not necessary to tip unless you want a good hair cut the next time
No. But its polite to tip because they are doing a service for you. You tip everyone who is in the beauty industry. Plus they have to sweep up your hair after.
Because some people, unlike you, are generous. We like to show appreciation for a job well done.

    You are obviously stingy.
Some just rent thier space so they get no pay except for the work they do.

at some shops they do get a basic salery. not enough to live on.

    good luck
No, you never HAVE to tip anyone. It is the consumer's decision to tip or not. You have no obligations.
tipping is a weird thing that society just does. I pay $40-50 for my haircut and tip about $10 - I love my hairdresser she always does a great job!!!
Staring off yes, we do get paid minimum wage. We provide a service to !! No need to be snotty.
Im not sure but I know they don't make much. We tip them so they can make enough to pay their bills.
They get the minimum wage + tips.

  • Hairdressers in Toronto that are good with fine, long hair?

My wife is very protective of her hair and has had some bad experiences in the past with hairdressers who didn't know how to care for long hair, or didn't know what styles would suit a woman with fine hair (it doesn't have a lot of body). Not knowing it is hard to figure it out. The best way is to go to a beauty suply store and have one of the workers to tell you. They will check your hair and they will know. You don't have to buy the product you need there. I have tried a lot of diffent product types trying to use the best for my hair and I have found that sunsil is the best. They have a whole line of products from limp to frizzy. They work better then anything I have found... They don't cost alot either. Good Luck...
are you looking for drug brands or salon brands?

Rotate between at least 2 different shampoo and conditioners, it keps your hair fresher.

    OR

Try a greasy roots, dry ends system like

    -Charles Worthington Balancing act

    -Garnier Fructis Balanced Care

    -Aussie dual personaliy

    Or

just use a shampoo for all hair types that balances moisture level.
i have at least 3 different shampooes for this very same reason (i am a hairstylist in va.). people don't understand that my hair changes from day to day (not even other hairstylists - i thought i was the only one!) so i change my shampoo daily for how my hair feels that day.

one of the most important tips i can give you is to towel dry your hair before applying conditioner. use a hand towel if you have to , but towel dry it before conditioner. (i said it twice because it's THAT important)

Yeah, just keep buying stuff at Nooks and make sure that you have somebody else (from a different town) buy something from your Nooks and he'll tell you that he's upgrading and then you'll get a new store and get the hairdresser.

When you do get it...here are all the different styles you can get:

Is it ok to straighten your hair before going to the hairdressers?

When i wake up i get bedhead hair and its awful so i was wondering is it ok for me to straighten it before going to the hairdressers or is this a bad idea. thanks. Is it ok to straighten your hair before going to the hairdressers?
I have really curly and poofy hair, so I always straighten it before I go for a haircut simply since I don't want to pay for them to straighten it. However, if you're going in for a cut, just ask them to cut it while it's dry, or else what was the use of straightening it.Is it ok to straighten your hair before going to the hairdressers?
Surely you go to the hairdressers to have it straightened for you? Just stick it in a hair tie or wear a hat!

Also, your poor hair wont enjoy such a harsh heat treatment twice in an hour!
Well yeah but there is not point, there going to wash it and then straighten it anyway.

And if its one straightening less on your hair then its better not burningg it.
Sure...But if your going to get your hair cut, or whatever then they're most likely just going to wash your hair, or wet it down...Unless your just going in for a style.
I think it is no neccessary to straighten it .
Yeh its defs up to you, but they will end up either washing it or spraying it with water anyway.

They'll understnd if you have bed hair, im sure they've seen worse!

    xo
Not if they wash it for you, no

Why not sport the bedhead look for that day?

It is ok because if you don't straighten it, you will pay double.

  • How much do you tip hairdressers?

Is there a certain % that you should tip?How much do you tip hairdressers?
I never really knew what percentage was appropriate to tip a hairdresser, so I usually give 10-15%. Getting your hair done can be pretty expensive, too, so to compensate for feeling ripped off, I don't give a huge tip.How much do you tip hairdressers?
people usually tip at least 15% but u can tip the hair dresser more than that if he/she does a great job or you are his/her patron.
20%, and make sure that it is cash. It just makes it easier for them if you give them cash.

Why should I tip waiters and taxi drivers and hairdressers?

I'm self-employed and no-one tips me - I charge a fee for the work I do and that's all I expect to get.Why should I tip waiters and taxi drivers and hairdressers?
It's a real crock Americans are buying into. Waiters are paid below minimum wage, which is the start of the problem; they should be paid a decent wage, and no tips, in my opinion. I see no reason whatsoever that hairdressers should get a tip with what they charge. Taxi drivers, of the three, seem sometimes to deserve a tip more than others, if they get you where you are going in the least amount of time possible, and in comfort. Cabbies could/ and do drive people all over to run up higher fees. America is tip crazy; other countries survive quite well with a system of wages for work done, period. Why should I tip waiters and taxi drivers and hairdressers?
Because they are working for you and dont generally make much.
Because you choose to use their services and you are fully aware that you have to tip. You do not have to eat at restaurants with waiters and you can do your own hair and take the bus. Its a choice, if you don't want to tip then don't frequent places where you have to tip. Pretty simple solution.
Just because no one tips you, you should not begrudge a little extra to other people who must wait on you and be nice to you and do exactly what you want them to do while not even getting paid minimum wage.

You should tip anyone who has to make you happy.
Because waiters don't charge fees. They get paid well below minimum wage (the average where I live is $2.13 an hour) and they don't make any sort of commission off the food they sell.

I know most people respond to this with 'Well then waiters should be paid better'. Maybe, maybe not, but the waiters don't control that.
It is a tradition. It is not necessary that you tip, but if you don't, you may get a dirty look. In China, there is no tippng allowed. One way to resolve this problem is to add the tipping in your bill and ban tipping altogether.
I usually tip a penny if there is bad service or I have a card that says, TIP, LOOK AT A NEW LINE OF WORK, YOU STINK IN THIS ONE
I think it's because of the hourly wage they receive. I know for sure that servers make very little hourly, and they heavily rely on the tips that they receive. I believe it's the same for hairdressers and taxi drivers.

Since you are self employed, you are in charge of what you are making, which is a luxury that most people in the service industry do not have.

Why will the hair colour that my hairdressers put on not stay in longer than a week?

The product is LOreal. Made to cover grey hair and is left for 3/4 hr and is done by a Professional, this time the colour has started to fade on day 2.Why will the hair colour that my hairdressers put on not stay in longer than a week?
Hi 3 to 4 hours seems a long time to be left on.I would go back to the hairdresser it should not be fading so quick.

Good LuckWhy will the hair colour that my hairdressers put on not stay in longer than a week?
    Why will they do?!

Whatever products you use after few days they will be gone.Hair colours do not stay for long. But if talking about the span then u need to consult ur hairdresser.Might be that the product used is not truthful or good one.
you are using the wrong shampoo, for one thing. probably something that is stripping the color away. You need to try chaz dean products. your color will last at least 6 months or longer. Hair will be better than you ever thought possible. please try it.
Could be semi-perminant or a wash in wash out or something along those lines. Go back and talk to your hair dresser.
sounds like she's using a semi permanent.........bad hairdresser!
If you have had colour before without problems, think you had a faulty batch of dye this time. If this has happened beofre, it sounds like you have hari that just wont hold colour. My friend has the same problem, red shades fade the quickest if you have colour resistant hair.

  • Do guys ever take pictures into the hairdressers?

Obviously girls do it all the time but do any of you men take pictures of a hairstyle you'd like to get into the salon with you? Or if you're a hairdresser is this common?Do guys ever take pictures into the hairdressers?
I don't know because I'm a girl, but whats the problem?? If you want a certain style then I don't see why not. Don't listen to the macho crap. I'm sure the hairdressers would rather know what you want.Do guys ever take pictures into the hairdressers?
Okay, I'm not a guy, but...lots of the hair cut places have books, even just for guys ones', with different styles in them and I have seen guys looking at them and using pics out of them.
I'm a hairdresser and yes its very common for guys and girls to bring pictures in , but sometimes it can be very frustrating because you get the odd one or two people that bring pics in and say i wont it the same as that , but yet half the head is missing from the pic so really you cant see all the style, but i have to say in my yrs of doing hairdressing allot of men are more fussy than the women when it comes to there hair.
no they dont....well most straight guys dont...if the hairstyle does not work out we wear a hat..
yeah I had to take a picture of Vanilla Ice from 1990 so they would get it right
No I just say A military back and side please.
Theyd like too! I have loads of male mates always asking me for hair pictures and ideas.

But lets face it theres no hair magazines for guys and if theres mens styles in a girls mag theres only about 1/2 pages.
    i would.
haha , no! but I really should start. every time I go in , I just let the chick who is cutting my hair , just do something that looks nice and clean , and I always end up leaving like some rico suave pansy. damn you women are always more prepared for stuff than us, ill give u that.
I always take a picture of Terry Savalas with me.

Why do hairdressers cut off more than than you ask for?

I asked for a simple trim, to take off an inch, and the lady took off five. Needless to say, I'm very depressed, but why do they do this without asking your permission? The lady lied to my face and said she would do as I asked. She certainly didn't. Why do hairdressers do this? Why do hairdressers cut off more than than you ask for?
If they aren't a hairdresser that you go to regularly, they probably feel like they will never see you again so they could just do what they want. Older hairdressers tend to do this even more. I've been going to my young hairdresser for like 5 years and she always cuts it just the way i want. In fact, she normally takes off less and then asks me if I still want to do a little more just to make sure i'm satisfied. You really just have to find a good hairdresser and keep going to them. Why do hairdressers cut off more than than you ask for?
Whenever you go to the salon for a trim the point of it is to get rid of your dead ends. I don't know if your hair has a lot of heat damage, but constant drying, straightening, or curling certainly does a number on your hair. Maybe you had more dead ends than you realized and the way to avoid this is either chronically get your hair trimmed or never get a ';trim'; again. I wouldn't worry too much. It's summer and your oil glands are naturally more active and your hair should grow back in no time. Pinky promise.
This is common when people go to others, happens all the time (not every time, but quite often).

Did the gal cutting your hair have long hair herself or a short trendy look? I think you get the point. They always think they know better than you, and you'll rarely find one with long hair, RARELY.
I am very sorry that this happened to you. But grow up! Do not throw all of us into a category just because one person cut your hair too short. This is not a question, this is a pointless rant.
not all hair dresser are like that you need to find one that will listen to you... it takes a while keep on searching

ps i hope you didn't tip her... and yelled @ her.. I wouldn't of paid.
Whoa . Id be mad . I would sue the woman .Kick her .

Ps- Don't forget to watch the newest Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince ,coming July 15 .
I think I would do a google search for some responses to this.

Can i put a brown home hair dye on my hair 2 weeks after i had it dyed blonde at the hairdressers?

I ask this because i decided it would be a great idea to see what id look like blonde...well it look alright but i really dont want to be getting it done everytime my roots grow back, especially as my hair grows pretty fast. So, as i usually dyed my hair myself from home dark in the past..could i do it now its blonde or will it turn orange or green or something! Can i put a brown home hair dye on my hair 2 weeks after i had it dyed blonde at the hairdressers?
you will be fine if you use a warm tone of brown, such as chocolate brown, as the warm tones have a red base to them, which is the colour blonde hair is missing. If you use a cool tone of brown, then theres a chance it could go green, as these use a blue base (blonde(yellow)+blue=green!)

and buy yourself a good deep conditioning treatment (Aussie 3 Minute miracle is great! and only around 拢4. they sell it at boots)

    hope i helped!

xCan i put a brown home hair dye on my hair 2 weeks after i had it dyed blonde at the hairdressers?
yeah but the dye will have to have red in it
    yes
You could do it with the warmer brown, but honestly I wouldn't recommend it, because dying your hair again that soon would really fry your hair. I'd say wait another two weeks at least, then you should be good to go.
ideally you need a dye that has red tones in it this coats the roots of your hair which enables the dye to take effect better
dont do it unless you want ginger hair!

    go to a hairdresser
Don't do it!!!! You need to go to a salon and get it professionally done! The salon has to add a filler in. If you put brown ontop of a new blonde shade it could go black!

Should hairdressers allow anyone to take their clients hair?

by the real perpetrator to put you in the frame?

or a mad scientist could extract your DNA

from it and Clone another living you?

or you just don't like giving anything away

even your hair and toe-nail clippings?

if u feel like that about your detached hair

take it home and make a mattress or pillow

with it by using it as stuffing.Should hairdressers allow anyone to take their clients hair?
Yes yes, let them take it! What with bottle banks, shoe banks, paper recycling bins and plastics banks, a hair bank would just take up another parking space at Tesco's.
Why not? They only make wigs or something out of it!
Don't see why not - it's just dead stuff cut off. It's not going to make a difference to you - unless you believe in voodoo...
i'd personally not be happy about it, i'd worry they'd attach it to a Voodoo doll...

seriously it wouldn't bother me so long as they don't make a fortune from it making hair extensions etc!

Can i use at home hair dye after iv had it dyed at the hairdressers?

I went the hairdressers a few months ago and had my dark brown hair dyed lighter brown with blonde highlights but its so expensive getting the roots done every 6 weeks.

Can i buy an at home hair dye kit and get my sister to do it? I want it the same colour as i got it at the hairdressers but would it work? What hair dye is best?

Iv never dyed my hair myself before. Can i use at home hair dye after iv had it dyed at the hairdressers?
you can try, but you are never know exactly how it will turn out. try to buy the color closest to how your hair is now. if your sister is dying it, make sure she has done it before. it may be better to just dye your hair all one color instead of highlighting it. ive had some friends completely mess up their hair by trying to dye it themselves. good luck. Can i use at home hair dye after iv had it dyed at the hairdressers?
Sorry my love, that would be disastrous. The chemicals etc:used at hairdressers are stronger, and better than any you buy over the counter.Unless you specifically ask a qualified hair technician which they would suggest. You could turn your hair into an absolute MESS.
it won;t come close. trust me. it will come out very un even. plus how do you know your sister knows what she's doing. the color will probably bleed and you will get orangy hair
yes you can, try buy the colour that is closest to your colour.
yes you can just have to look out when the sun is strong it can bleach a bit
yeah its fine, i do mine all the time

Should i shave my head myself or should i go to the hairdressers?

That's pretty much the question. Thanks in advance for answering.Should i shave my head myself or should i go to the hairdressers?
just do it your self its not hard at all, and also its free so your fineShould i shave my head myself or should i go to the hairdressers?
it'll save you money to do it yourself, and there's really nothing to it. As long as you have access to a pair of clippers, I don't see why you should pay to have it done.
do it yourself, or get a friend to do it
Shave it yourself and save the 15 dollars. I have been doing it since I was a freshman in High School it is really pretty easy. After you use clippers to cut off your hair you can eith have a friend put a razor to your head or they sell special razors that are made for shaving your head they are pretty inexpensive.
shave it yourself. i havent gone to the hairdresser in years. its really easy and almost impossible to mess up
do it yourself it's free and it's easy
If its with a set of decent clippers, preferably Wahl for around 拢40 or so and you want it all one grade(all the same length) then u can get away with doing it yourself, as long as someone has a quick check to make sure u got it all. If you want it too different lengths, longer on top for coming over/spiking then best to get it done at the barbers/salon.
Do it youself,it's very simple, just watch for the ';strays'; around the ears/back of neck, ect, you'll probably have to cut those by hand.I'd have a friend/family member around though, just to check you and make sure you didn't miss anything in back and that your ears/neck look clean:-)
First of all if you have never done it before becareful, dont go to a hairdresser though because they do not get very close. Get it as close as you can with a regular razor, something better than a bic tho, then smooth it out with a 3 head.

You may want to check with your doctor to make sure you dont have any skin irritations on your scalp. personally i have psoriasis on my scalp which makes it less than smooth andd difficult to get a clean shave.
Are you shaving your head with a razor or clippers.

If it's clippers do it yourself at home, select your clipper guard and make sure you go over ever bit of your head in differing directions to ensure you have a uniform cut.

If you want it done by a razor and it's the first time, go to a barbers who do head shaves and have it done by them. If you've done it before and it's a trim do it yourself.

If your doing it yourself make sure your hair is cut as short as possible before you start to shave, use a good shaving foam and hot water to lift the hair. Take a first pass over and repeat until smooth. I recommend a mach 3 razor.

    Good luck
i would it would save the money and my dad does it his self and it turns out fine all the time :)
Ah yes, one of these questions. Let me give you the options and your choices, and the most important piece of info is the number of times you plan on shaving your head

    If

you currently have a head-shaving tool, then I would shave myself.

    If

you do not currently have a head-shaving tool, then you need to consider the cost of driving to the store, buying the head-shaving tool, then driving back.

    If

this amount is less than the number of times you plan on shaving your head multiplied by the cost of head shaving at the hairdresser's, shave your own head

    else

I need to find out how hairdressers use science on the job.

But you can't just take a science class and be a hairdresser. You have to go to a cosmetology school.

Can I have my hair dyed from brown to blonde at hairdressers?

At the moment my hair is a medium brown colour but has a sort of reddy tint to it. I am thinking of going to the hairdressers next week and getting it dyed blonde. Will they be able to do this? I don't want it peroxide or anything, just a sort of ash blonde. Thanks :DCan I have my hair dyed from brown to blonde at hairdressers?
thing is to dye or lighten your hair you need peroxide to make the colour work. if you dont wanna have peroxide on ya hair then you cud have a semi permanent colour done but that wont lift your colour.

to get your hair to an ash blonde, your hair would need to lightened using bleach to get rid of the reddy tones in your hair and an ash toner applied to help neutrilise the hair,Can I have my hair dyed from brown to blonde at hairdressers?
read carefully because i find myself explaining this FAR too many times.

1, a colour correction service will have to be paid for. this includes a non-damaging colour remover like Goldwell: http://www.goldwell-northamerica.com/sit鈥?/a>

2, then bleach HAS to be used. how on earth do you think your hair can be lightened sufficiently without a bleaching kit?! and it is NOT just peroxide. it is bleach + peroxide that makes a bleach kit. if you need verification then look on the ingredients list of any box kit and you will see persulfates (bleach) and hydrogen peroxide (peroxide of course) one can't really work without the other. the peroxide opens up the hairshafts to allow chemicals to penetrate and the bleach enters and lightens the hairs natural underlying pigments.

3, if you want an ash shade (you never stated a level, 6,7,8,8,10,11?) then an ash TONER will be used afterwards. you need to be clear on the level though as the hairdresser will need to bleach to the correct level before the toner is used....
With the red in it, something could go wrong. They may have to pay them to lighting it to a lighter brown or get loads of blonde streaks in it and then as it starts to become lighter it will become easier to go full blonde!
Why not get heavy highlites instead? You could really trash your hair bleaching it all over and then you'll have the roots to deal with. Just talk to your professional. They are trained to know what to do and what will look the best on you.
I don't see why not, as long as you have the colour you want :). You can colour your hair any colour, so dw ;)

Is permanent hair dye bad for your hair like the hairdressers say it is?

I want to dye my hair couple of shades darker but the hairdresser keeps saying that semi-permanents are better, however the semi's dont hold and I have to keep getting it done ALL the time which is costing a fortune. Are they just saying this to get more money over time???Is permanent hair dye bad for your hair like the hairdressers say it is?
No, I dyed my hair perm and cut at 12yrs old. Now I'm 17 and well the damaged stayed and it is barely rejuvinating to its natural color. I will not dye my hair so and you should stick to a new hairdresser that can do your semi perms with lesser costs. Ask friends and family or ask for discount. Is permanent hair dye bad for your hair like the hairdressers say it is?
They mean that if you dye your hair darker you can damage it because it is a stronger chemical also if you want to ever dye your hair you'd have to bleach it, which can chemically damage your hair even more. Unless your definite on keeping your color for a while a long while then go for it, if unsure, then test it out.
It is okay but you got to keep it to a minimum if you do it to much and your hair will get brital and nastay and one day it could possibly fall out.
No, They're not just saying it to get more money, Semi is less damaging to your hair then Permanent.
yeah..but prolly no worse than always dyeing your hair..which just frys it...so i would say use stay out of the sun..user darker shade enhancing shampoo..andplease give your hair a break.

Who are the best hairdressers in Vancouver?

I will be in Vancouver next week from Australia and one of the first things I want to do is get a whole new color and cut and I'm hoping people can tell me who the best hairdressers for this are.

ThanksWho are the best hairdressers in Vancouver?
I know what you mean - good hairdressers are hard to find! I found a really good one several years ago when I won a make over contest. I was so impressed with the results I have been visiting David at his hair studio in downtown Vancouver ever since. It's called Endz Hair Studio and it's on 562 Dunsmuir Street. Telephone is 604.681.1487 Here is their website: http://www.endzhairstudio.com/

Have a great stay in Vancouver!

Customer service at this studio is bad, at least for a new person. They sound a bit snobbish, no smiles and no greetings. It looks like you should suffer to get your hair done. I had no appointment but wanted to get one for later. No one was available for that day and they even did not try.

What colour should i get my hair dyed at the hairdressers and how much will it cost?

    What colour is best?

    This is me %26gt; www.myspace.com/natzbabes.

it costs 拢18.50 for a wet cut and blowdry at my hairdressers so how much do u reckon for the colour as well? What colour should i get my hair dyed at the hairdressers and how much will it cost?
I think it looks really nice now btw :)

and i think you would suit any colour, and i think blonde would well nice, but also i think black would love really nice to, so really anything, if black is to drastic, then just go for like hazely brown, maybe with blondish highlights, or even dark brown low lights, and unless you have it on a trainee day, it will be about 拢30-拢40ish, trainee days would be about 拢20ish.

    Anyway, good luckk :D

Dark brown to light blonde in one day at the hairdressers?

my hair is chin length and dyed dark brown almost black, my blonde roots are starting to show. my question is, can the hairdresser acheive this?Dark brown to light blonde in one day at the hairdressers?
yeah they will be able to but they will most likely bleach your hair which is going to kill it!Dark brown to light blonde in one day at the hairdressers?
mine is light brown/blonde naturally and black at the moment, same thing is happening, the problem is that bleaching is really bad for ur hair, even worse than dyeing it.

what im doing, is wait til my roots are bad enough to need to dye it, dyeing it a lighter colour (im doing my reddish), which still looks cool with the rest of the black hair, then keep dyeing it til the black is out, which wont be long since ur hair is only chin length.

that way, wen the blonde starts coming through it wont be as obvious.
They can use hair dye or bleach it. Or, if you don't want to kill your hair, grow out the blonde roots and wear them as highlights. If they are too light for you, you can ask the hairdresser to dye them a darker color.
Absolutely, though they may have to bleach it. :)
