Are hairdressers trained to know what hair colour would suit you?

Im thinking of going light blonde, but i want to ask the stylist for advice... but i dunno are they trained to know stuff like that? Are hairdressers trained to know what hair colour would suit you?
its not a part of their actual training, but generally people become hair dressers because they are really into hair, so they are gunna know what will look good and what won't. i often ask for their opinion on style or colour when i'm not sure.

just ask, they won't mind and they will be able to help :)Are hairdressers trained to know what hair colour would suit you?
i have dark hair and have had highlights put in it. I hve asked, what will look good and they just look at me and offer to show me hair samples of different shades and ask me to choose and I hate that. I am sure that there are stylist that know. IF I were you, there are ';colorists'; that specialize in this particuler area and would go to them. THey should know and not have you sit there to figure it out
You would think they should be but by my experience they aren't. They either do what you want them to do or what they want to do, not what is the best. Occasionally I've found a good colorist but eventually they all turn to out to be flakes and end up deciding to change your color just when you are really starting to like it. Just make sure you are going to someone that has good color experience.

Good luck.
No they aren't actually trained but its with experience that you should honestly be able to trust them. They see lots of people and will know what would suit your face or skin color. I would def. trust your hairdresser!
And since they work with hair for a living, they probably get a good idea of what colors look good with what complexions and face types etc
they're probably not trained, but they must start knowing with expierience
Take their advice, that's why they are hair dressers, they are trained to know what would suit you
yes they are
