That depends on a few things. I dont know too many stylists who are paid on an hourly basis, so I would count that out. Generally speaking, stylists tend to work on a commission basis. Renting a chair is also an option.
It depends on the salon they are working for. Usually they get a certain percentage of each hair cut/coloring or whatever that they do, and the salon gets the other portion of it. It differs with each salon, so you really have to call and ask. They also rely on tips, obviously.
