What are standby appointments for hairdressers?

Going for a haircut and there is an option of a stand by appointment which is way cheaper. What does that require of me?What are standby appointments for hairdressers?
I've heard of stand-by's for a booked stylist, if someone cancels, the stylist will let you fill the time slot, but it's usually not cheaper...hmmm

I suggest you ask the salon. What are standby appointments for hairdressers?
Usaually if an opening comes up they will call you in with little notice. That way if there is a cancellation or a no show the hair dresser can get clients in with no down time. If you can not leave your job or jump in your car and be there in an hour it may not work for your schedule.
Yeah, it means the hairstylist is booked but, if someone cancels they will call you in for an appointment. This person must be a really good stylist to have great clientele.
