No dear, You learn all aspects of Cosmetology if you are in California because hairdressing is; manicuring, cutting, perming, color, and all facial stuff.
If you love to play with hairstyles and wear them then this is the right profession for you. I love it and have been a hairdresser/teacher for many years... My mom was one in Minnesota... We make great money, make lots of friends, and never ever get bored.......Hairdressers?

many states have a 2 year program through the highschool where you go to high school half a day and beauty school the other half of the day. When you finish the program you have to take a stateboard exam to become licensed in cosmetology. Ask your school guidance councelor for more info. If you wait until after highschool to go to beauty school it will cost you well over $12,000.00 to go. Take advantage of it now if you can.
idk, u should definitly try to go for more then jut sweeping up hair, eeewwwwww i think tha is gross.
If you don't have a license most states won't let you touch ANYONES hair. Some states let you shampoo people but most don't. I'm a Hair Stylist and I think it would be great experience to just shadow someone and ask questions if you are thinking about going into the field so you can see the pros and cons of it. Good luck!
